On our speed benchmarks (1 Gbps fiber, Paris, WireGuard to a Paris server), Surfshark clocked 810 Mbps against NordVPN's 850 Mbps — a 3-percentage-point difference, imperceptible in real-world use. Netflix US unblocking success was 89% across our test sessions vs. 95% for NordVPN — still very solid for everyday use.

Concrete differentiators: Camouflage Mode (automatic obfuscation for restrictive networks) is on by default in Surfshark, not buried in advanced settings like NordVPN. This isn't just a marketing distinction — it's a structural difference in accountability. Proton AG is a mission-driven organization, not an investment portfolio.
